Harvey Nichols AW14

Last Thursday (25th) we were invited to join the team at the Harvey Nichols AW14 fashion show and collection launch.

Harvey Nichols Birmingham hold seasonal fashion shows featuring new pieces ready to launch in stores. Their shows are always a favourite of ours as they always encapsulate the Harvey Nichols brand, high-end but edgy and the style of their shows are known to push the fashion boundaries.

This seasons event (AW14) was held in the underground car park at the mailbox. It was really exciting walking through the car park and following the event signs. It felt like a fashion treasure hunt, that pleasantly ended in a glass of champagne and some amazing cars as Lexus were this years event sponsor!

As soon as you entered the steel gates into the fashion show you could sense the excitement and anticipation, the whole place was lit with blue up lighters, and with the buzzing crowds of fantastically dressed customers and the club DJ the vibe was set for the evening.

We then took our seats for the show, I always feel that the shows go so quickly and you just want them to keep sending out more and more stunning models in amazing fashion combinations and colours that you would never think of yourself! But! I am pleased to say I was wearing a colour combination similar to this below from Roksanda Ilincic. I must say this look was one of my favourites from the evening, not biased at all obviously.

Roksanda Ilincic jumper, £405; Roksanda Ilincic trousers, £850; Daniele Michetti sandals, £445; Dannijo necklace, £800; McQ by Alexander McQueen clutch, £165

Featured in the shows “Get knitted” section; Roksanda Ilincic Jumper & trousers, Daniele Michetti Sandals, Dannijo necklace, McQ by Alexander Mcqueen clutch.

This is another of my favourite looks from the evening, also from the Get Knitted section of  the show. As a rule I generally love tan and blue together anyway, but the mixed patterns and textures in this look really do it for me! and although it features a rather wooly jumper it still clings on to summer with the gorgeous floral print skirt.

Paul Smith jumper, £230; JW Anderson skirt, £795; Aquazurra boots, £630; Stella McCartney bag, £795

“Get Knitted”; Paul Smith Jumper , JW Anderson skirt, Aquazzura boots, Stella McCartney bag.

This outfit was featured in the “Check it out” section and features Jade Thompson, winner of BINTM season 7. This look is simple and could be worn as a casual daytime look but with the elegance of the coat could quite easily be dressed up with accessories for a night time look, perfect for frosty evenings!

Sea NY coat, £705; Alice + Olivia dress, £295

“Check it out”; Sea NY coat, Alice and Olivia dress, Alexander Wang boots, Givenchy clutch.

Speaking of frosty evenings, this is the kind of coat that you will want to wear everyday and even keep on once you get inside. In fact if this coat was mine, I would probably sleep in it, shower in it, go to the gym in it… you get the picture. It’s incredible.

Giorgio Brato coat, £380; Moschino skirt, £375; Saint Laurent pumps, £395; Valentino bag, £1995

“Red Alert”; Giorgio Brato Coat, Moschino skirt, Saint Laurent pumps, Valentino bag

Another thing I love about the Harvey Nichols fashion shows is that the mens section is just as long as the womens, and features some really interesting looks as well as the obvious perk of the male models. Here are some of my favourite mens looks, and yes, I’m talking about the clothes.

When I read the show guide I was really looking forward to the “Mods and Rockers” section as I’m often known for my slightly alternative looks! This section did not disappoint, the vibe was Mods and Rockers with a slight formal feel. I also love that these trousers aren’t full length and the Dior Homme footwear are the icing on the cake.

KrisVanAssche jacket, £605; Ann Demeulemeester jumper, £415; Matthew Miller trousers, £230; Dior Homme shoes, £630

“Mods and Rockers” KRISVANASSCHE jacket, Ann Demeulemeester jumper, Matthew Miller trousers, Dior Homme shoes.

Next up is some Sport Luxe from Lescott Stewart and Marni, again with Dior Homme Footwear. The mixed material jacket is great, I wish there was ladies version as it’d be a welcome edition to my wardrobe.

Lescott Stewart jacket, £310; Lescott Stewart T-shirt, £85; Marni trousers, £375; Dior Homme trainers, £550

“Sports Luxe” Lescott Stewart Jacket and TShirt, Marni Trousers, Dior Homme trainers

The finale of any Harvey Nichols show is Evening wear! Another section I always look forward to.

Catherine Dean dress, £1185; Saint Laurent sandals, £625

“Evening Wear” Catherine Deane Dress, Saint Laurent Sandals.

So that concludes the rundown of our evening of fashion, for more pictures from the show check out our instagram and twitter feeds @G5Lifestyle. We are already looking forward to SS15.

Thank you as always to the Harvey Nichols team.
